How To Detox The Liver Naturally with Coffee Enema

In 2012 when I finished chemotherapy and radiation, doctors found in my liver elevated enzymes and suggested a biopsy. And this is after all the hell I went through! I said, “NO!” I met one clever doctor who told me “Learn how to detox the liver naturally.”

Well, I was very determined and was doing a lot of research. I had to get my liver in shape, and as I wrote in “My Liver Story,” for me it was DO or DIE!Liver Detox

I know that an idea of coffee enema might sound weird at first and you are probably thinking “No way!”

But for me, it was not about liking. I was ready to do anything–eat dirt, fast, drink nasty stuff—but not go back under the knife or into a chemo room!

So, please keep an open mind. Trust me, after reading this post you will have tremendous respect for this fantastic detox aid.

In short, whatever you want to accomplish—detox your body, lose weight, increase your energy, or look younger—give coffee enema the green light.

I did!

Coffee enema was my only chance to cleanse my liver from all cancer treatment leftovers.

But I didn’t stop there. The coffee enema is a must-do in my regular detox protocol.

Ready to boost your liver?

1. Who Heals Your Body?

But first, I want to share with you one very uncommon wisdom that most people either don’t know or bluntly ignore.

Want to know what it is?

Well, most people I’ve ever talked to are under the impression that if they switch the diet and eat “healthy,”—the problem is solved. They feel better, lose a few pounds, and very excited. And this is a COMMON WISDOM.

But they forgot one crucial fact: food doesn’t heal the body. BODY HEALS ITSELF! And the food is just raw material.

Think about this: if you have been eating processed food for years, and this is what your body has been accustomed to, how it will react if you change the type of gasoline?

Are you sure that your body chemistry will pull it off?

Any idea what is in your cell membranes after years of the SADStandard American Diet?

It is critical to understand that you are full of trans fatty acids! They are a dangerous man-made creation and a cause of numerous diseases. So to heal, you must get rid of them, and this is how you repair your basic chemistry. Without it—NO LUCK!

Well, are you ready?

2. Do You Have a Healthy Gut?

Repairing your basic chemistry is your top priority. But first, how the body rids of health-damaging chemicals?

One answer—your GUT!

Do You Have Healthy Gut

Also, have you heard about glutathione? Read about the detox process in a nutshell.

When harmful chemicals enter the body, nutrients like vitamin C “mark” this chemical for glutathione—important enzyme for proper liver function and your body master antioxidant. Chemical becomes “heavy” and is easily drugged out of the bloodstream into your liver and then into the gallbladder. Last stop – intestines and out!

This is ideal. But are you sure you have a healthy gut? Or are you constipated sometimes?

What if instead of the “ideal,” your glutathione falls off the nasty chemical?

Now you’ve got a big problem—chemical will be reabsorbed by the body and again start doing its evil deeds.

So, what to do?

The coffee enema is to the rescue and how to detox the liver naturally!

3. Coffee Enema – Supercharger for Your Liver

First of all, coffee enema is the best and fastest way to reduce the work of your gut and not let harmful chemicals and heavy metals to be reabsorbed.

Second, it will help to optimize your ability to fight and detoxify free radicals, harmful toxins, and environmental chemicals.

I cannot praise enough the coffee enema. By merely writing this post, I am walking proof of how effective it is.

But why coffee?

Coffee For Enema

The trick is the coffee has phytonutrients. When you are hosing out your intestines, they go directly from colon veins to your liver. They increase the production of more glutathione and help in releasing detoxifying bile.

A coffee enema is a supercharger for your liver detox!

Good enough reason? Well, are you ready?

4. Coffee Enema How-To

To get the best out of your enema, I suggest you use the organic coffee made explicitly for this purpose. Coffee should be fully caffeinated, mold and fungus-free and air roasted.

Other than coffee, do you have everything else you need?

Read my enema kit reviews and get the best enema kit for all your liver detox needs.

Preparation:

Put 32 oz of filtered or distilled water into a saucepan with 3 tablespoons of the organic coffee. Bring mixture to the boil and simmer it for 10-15 minutes.

Let it cool off to a slightly warm pleasant temperature.

How to administer:

  • Pour liquid only into the enema bag or a bucket.
  • Hang it on the waist level (not higher!) and preferably in the bathroom. Be sure that flow is not too fast.
  • Lie down on the floor on your right side (this is where the liver is).
  • Insert 2 inches of the tube into your rectum. For lubrication use coconut or olive oil.
  • Open the hose and let half liquid (16 oz) flowing into the rectum.
  • Relax, breathe deeply, and pull your knees to your stomach.
  • Try to hold the enema for 12-15 minutes to allow coffee to reach your liver.
  • Massage your stomach to push water flow through your colon.
  • Gently expel the liquid into the toilet.
  • Repeat the second enema right away—another 16 oz.

5. Coffee Enema Tips Before and After

→ Tip: Because it takes time to cool off your coffee, prepare it the night before. Warm it up when you are using it.

→ Tip: DO NOT filter coffee through the paper filter. Your coffee might lose some essential elements needed for your effective liver detox. Use stainless steel micromesh strainer.

→ Tip: If you have a small bathroom, you can do it in the living room. If you have a bucket, you can keep it standing.

→ Tip: I prefer stainless steel or a glass bucket to a plastic bag or a bucket because plastic might leach some harmful chemicals into your coffee. Stainless steel is also easier to clean and maintain.

→ Tip: VERY IMPORTANT – before coffee enema, boost your lymphatic fluids flow by doing a simple bounce on a mini trampoline for 10 minutes.

→ Tip: After enema – take a glass a freshly made green juice.

Conclusion: Treat Your Liver With Love

Coffee enema, when done correctly, can circumvent many of your problems.

Remember the unconventional wisdom that healthy food doesn’t heal—the body does?

That is why, first and foremost, you should work on repairing your basic body chemistry and keep your detoxification pathways in top shape. If not—you will not be able to handle the chemical overload. All your efforts to give body good raw material—healthy foods—will be a waste!

Now you know that glutathione is the #1 antioxidant and the main enzyme for your correctly functioning liver! Do you have enough of it, or is it depleted? Do you have occasional brain fog, pain, fatigue, chronic infection, dull skin, or other problems? If yes, you might have toxins overbuild.

So, is it time to get your liver back to the optimal level? Show your liver some love and keep it happy.

Get your perfect enema kit and exceptional organic coffee.

As for me, after nine months of coffee enemas upon cancer treatment, I have normal liver test results.

Well, start your coffee enema! It can be your lifesaver!

Happy detox!

  1. Lol, coffee enema !!
Dear Ella , I agree, our liver is very important, it filters and cleanses our blood. Keeping it healthy should be a priority !
The information you provided is excellent. Thank you for spending hours researching , writing and bringing this valuable info to us.
Very well written article, and following your advice will lead to a healthy liver, and digestive system! Which by the way, I believe is neglected by many people with all the modified foods we consume!!
Cleansing our body naturally is a Good Thing !!
    Coffee to the rescue !

    • Hi, Angie!
Yes, COFFEE ENEMA. Who would’ve thought!?

It saved my liver. Literally. The rest is history.

Thank you for your kind words and your encouragement. I will continue my “investigative writing” and there are SO(!) many interesting things to talk about! I am very happy to “poke” around for all of my readers and, of course, for my own good.

Please keep sharing with me your thoughts, your wishes, what might concern you or something you want to know. I am like your private investigator for FREE! And I have skin in the game. Yay!

As for the liver, you are absolutely correct: a lot of people don’t take this issue seriously and either through an unhealthy diet, dehydration or because of other reasons, cause liver damage. It is very unfortunate and scary!

I will be writing soon about specific foods and herbs which are superb liver helpers.

Stay tuned and stay curious. Your health is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY!

      Sincerely!

  2. This is a really interesting post and I would never have thought of using coffee to do an enema. I am sure that this must be very good for you but I would be a little hesitant to try this on myself as I have never done this and don’t know how my body would react.

I think although it may be expensive I would rather go to someone the first time I try this. I would think it may be easier although not as effective to detox from the top by drinking the necessaries.

    • Hello, Michel!

Thank you very much for stopping by and for your comment. I sincerely appreciate it.

Let me clarify a couple of things. As you might notice, this post is under the ADVANCED category. It is for people who know a thing or two about detoxing and know the basics. If a person is a beginner, he or she should educate themselves about different aspects of the coffee enema.

I have written a series of articles about this topic. Other than covering the general idea–like in the post you’ve read–a person can and should learn about How to Choose Coffee For Enema, know features of the quality enema equipment (Best Home Enema Kit Buying Guide) and choose what is best on the market (Enema Kit Reviews.) And all how-tos I spread throughout all these posts.

It might be not such a bad idea for the first time to see a trained therapist… but! You should ask what type of coffee they are using or better yet – bring your own. After all, it is YOUR BODY!

Also, don’t go to just a therapist. Be picky. Ask around, check all references.

If you use their coffee, I suggest you should be familiar with the subject matter. Again, read the post I mentioned earlier how to choose coffee for enema.

Of course, if you have a healthy liver, you shouldn’t worry. Again, choose WISELY!

      Cheers!

  3. Hello; Coffee enema? Something to think about. I never heard of the Coffee enema before I begin to read your post. But I do know that detoxing the gut is a perfect health builder.

All who read your post are helped as your explanation and demonstration plays a pivotal role in the help that you have provided in this post.

Is there any oral detoxer that can detox the Liver?

    DorcasW

    • Dear Dorcas!

It is very kind of you to respond and share your input.

Yes, I have been doing a coffee enema for seven years and know this topic quite well in general and, of course, from my experience. And even though it is not for everybody, it was my pleasure to cover coffee enema in all details – who, when, why and how.

The option to take something orally – it is a subject of one of my future post. Thank you for asking.

Please stay tuned. Hopefully, we will talk again.

      Kind regards!

  4. Thank you so much for sharing your story and taking out time to share this with us. I think it is very important that we take care of our guts. Our liver for example is charged with the task to filter our system, it’s important to keep it healthy. I never thought one could really detox using coffee. I think I’d definitely give the coffee enema a try. Thank you an

    • Henderson!

Thank you very much for the words of appreciation and encouragement. I sincerely appreciate it.

Unfortunately, most people don’t have good enough comprehension of how our gut works and why it is so crucial to keep it happy. Please read my post “Is The Gut a Second Brain?” Even though I’ve added my special twist, I hope you will find it interesting.

It is important to remember that since liver and intestines are part of our natural body detox system and at the same time a part of our gut, keep liver happy is critical for the entire system of digestion and our immune health. All organs in our body are interconnected!

The coffee enema is not for everybody–that’s why it is under “Advanced” category–but for some people, it might be a very big eye-opener.

Stay healthy and stay in touch!

      Cheers

  5. Hello, Ella.

I enjoyed reading your post and I have to say that this is not something I ever would have considered.  I drink coffee every day but never would have thought it good for us in any other way, least of all an enema.

That said, I have not had any liver issues and my colon is pretty healthy so I don’t know if this would be something I would try.  However, I’m glad that it has done the job (no pun intended), for you especially since you had already been through so much.  How often do you recommend one to do this?

I have had enemas in the past, (distant past).  I’ll have to give this one some thought. My mind is not closed off to this just maybe not as open as it should be, I guess.  That’s OK though, it’s not for everyone.

I wish you all the best and I hope you continue to have good health.

    Wayne

    • Hi, Wayne!

What a cute friend you have with you! What’s his/her name?

First of all, thank you for visiting and your comment. Yes, as I’ve said before, coffee enema is not(!) for everybody. You read my story and understand why at the time they told me about another biopsy, I was ready to eat dirt if I had to! So, for me, it really was “Do or Die!”

In my case, introduction to coffee enema happened at the right place and at the right time. And I am so happy I was very open-minded. The rest was history…

You are lucky if your liver, intestines and the entire gut system are in tip-top shape. Just keep them healthy and carry on. But for a lot of people, it is a different story. Unfortunately.

I administer coffee enemas ones a week or 10 days as maintenance. For now, it is enough for me.

If you ever consider doing this, bookmark my post and only get the best coffee and best quality enema kit.

      See you soon!

  6. Dear Ella, thanks a lot for that crucial information. You certainly had to live to help many get out of the common wisdom trap that we are in.

I had not really grasped the idea that detox was that important until i recently did a 3 day steam bath therapy (my natural healing process advisor did not see the need for an enema detox at that time, so I got the steam bath). It is like I got a brand new body in terms of functionality and productivity immediately after that.

Thanks a lot for shedding light on the crucial role of coffee detox, glutathione and how the body fights for itself when given the right raw material chemistry to work with.

May you live a long fulfilled life like you are already doing.

(And thanks be to God Almighty)

    Boniface- AndroidBix

    • Hi, Boniface!

I love that “common wisdom trap!” You can imagine how many people are in it!!! And, believe it or not, most people don’t know the body’s basic chemistry. I didn’t know either till the time I got sick.

So, that is precisely the purpose of the Detox Generation – to bring to people information about wellness through the prism of properly functioning gut and liver but doing it in SIMPLE LANGUAGE without any heavy medical abra-kadabra! And, of course, it is all about natural ways to stay healthy.

I am so happy to know that you are into detoxing or helping your body to detox. Remember: we don’t do any “detoxing.” The body dows!

And yes – whatever works for you is great! If it’s steam bath therapy – awesome! You feel renewed, have great energy and ready to face the world. Face with a smile and open arms. What’s better can we ask?

      Happy Detox!

  7. I had this treatment of a coffee enema several years ago when I was suffering from almost every ailment one could think of. It was suggested by my health practitioner, who at first couldn’t get me to agree to it. The process was easier than I thought it would be, and I must admit I felt much better afterwards. From then on I began to agree that sometimes instead of packing up ourselves with a lost of prescribed stuff, what we need is a detox. Thanks for the reminder

    • Hello, JJ!

This is super that I was able to “remind” you about the coffee enema. It is obvious that you are not a newbie. I hope that your liver is in great shape and all readings are normal.

I remember how I reacted the first time! COFFEE ENEMA? In my buttocks? (Sorry, I am laughing now!)

Well, how they say, “Necessity is a mother of invention?” I am not sure who was first to get that idea and what the “necessity” was but the invention is FANTASTIC!

Thank you for your time and make me smile!

      Cheers

  8. This is intresting indeed. I am a fan of anything relating to health and I have never heard of a coffee enema. I am glad it helped you out, and may have to look further into it as you do have me intrigued and you made some very interesting points.

    • Hi, Cliff!

I am glad that I have sparked your curiosity. That is great!

There are a lot of things from all over the world we never heard before which are very beneficial for us. How many things we know are good but we don’t do them? That is one of the goals of the Detox Generation – to bring valuable information about body detox and body health in a very simple format, especially from a point of view of the user.

If you will be researching further, please let me know if you might have some questions since I am so experienced in the subject matter.

Thank you for your time. Please stop by again. Love your comments.

      Sincerely!

  9. This is really an interesting article. I have never heard of coffee enema before. I have always thought about detoxing. However, I wasn’t sure how safe it was and wondered if it really works. Who would have thought that coffee could be used for this purpose.

With all the chemicals our bodies are being exposed to every day, it’s great that there are natural ways to eliminate these harmful substances and making healthier choices.

This was a detailed article. However, where can I learn more about coffee enema and how can this organic coffee be sourced? Looking forward to researching more about coffee enema and hopefully trying it a well.

  10. The information you provided is excellent. Thank you for spending hours researching, writing and bring this valuable info to us. And following your advice will lead to a healthy liver and digestive system! I never thought one could really detox using coffee. I think although it may be expensive, I would rather go to someone the first time I try this. Our liver is very important, it filters and cleanses our blood. It’s important to keep it healthy.

It’s great that your website motives people to find other ways of learning. Thanks for sharing your knowledge of this one.

    • Hi, Nasrin!

Yes, the liver is a part of our gut system and a #1 filter in the body. Helping it to work effectively, especially when overloaded with harmful chemicals and toxins, is the best thing you can do. And if somebody after reading this post takes action and adjusts either lifestyle or diet, my job is done! Open-minded readers are my best audience. Thank you so much!

It is a smart idea to go to see a professional therapist to administer coffee enema for the first time. But! Be very picky about the place and experience of the person. Better yet – bring your own coffee! Please read my post “How to Choose Coffee for Enema.” You should educate yourself about what is best and what is the difference between various options.

      Good Health!

  11. Wow! This is an exhausting post and definitely makes up an interesting read for me. To be honest, I have never heard of coffee enema before I read through this post. Our liver is charged solely to filter our body system and as such it requires special treatments too. However, I never knew that coffee could be used to detox. Though I take coffee a lot but I will try out the coffee enema too since I got to know about its benefits through this post. This has really enlightened ally of people and I will do good by sharing it out to more people. Thanks

    • Dear RoDarrick!

Yes, a lot of people are not familiar with a coffee enema. Lucky for them!

I wish I didn’t have the necessity to find out either. In my case, it was a matter of “Do or Die.” You can only imagine the amount of research I was doing seven years ago and how much books and medical opinion I was reading. Today I have a whole library! So, I am walking proof.

It would be great if you bookmark this post and share with people who might need it. Actually, I wrote a series of articles covering the subject of coffee enema. Please forward them also: “How to Choose Coffee for Enema,” “Best Home Enema Kit Buying Guide,” and “Enema Kit Reviews.”

That will be the full spectrum of useful information for them so they don’t have to spend hours and hours to put two together.

Thank you for your kind words about the post and the topic. I sincerely appreciate it.

      Cheers!

  12. Hello. Very good information about detoxing. It is very important that we keep the gut healthy. Enemas are one way to do this. Your liver definitely needs detoxing once or twice a year. There are other way also. I do have a website you may want to check out.   Your website is very easy to understand. Keep up the good work!  Please check out my site to see about other ways to keep healthy!!

    • Hi, Sundra!

      I definitely will.

Of course, there are other ways to detox and specifically, do a liver detox. I am aware. It is just one post from a series of articles about the coffee enema. There are plenty of other topics I cover regularly.

As you noticed, my goal is to get information to my reader in a relatively “simple” way without any heavy medical abra-kadabra even though I read tons of research papers. But most important is that I am a WITNESS myself!

Anyways, thank you for stopping by. I sincerely appreciate it.

      Regards

  13. Thank you Ella, for your post which reminds me that there is something new to be learned every day, in this case, about an alternative approach to the treatment of liver toxicity, a coffee enema. My reading around the topic suggests that there were risks involved, and I appreciate your honesty, your bravery and your effectiveness in doing the necessary research and carrying out the method on yourself. You have also demonstrated the value of faith and hope and belief in the ability of the body to heal itself. I wish you all the best for your continued health and I will always remember Detox Regeneration as a method of alternative healing.

    • Hello, Iornafraserja!

Thank you for stopping by and for your comment.

Yes! 100% TRUE! RISK IS ALWAYS INVOLVED. Risk is involved when people grab a bottle of Tylenol. It negatively affects your kidneys. But how many people think about that risk?

Risk is involved when you are taking an enormous amount of medications during chemo. Never mind side effects that a person is dealing for the rest of his or her life. That’s a HECK OF THE RISK! And most of us don’t know anything about what it is and how to reduce it. I had gone through this. Trust me, I know what I am talking about!!!

As for the risk of the coffee enema, – it is like anything else. For some people, it will work, and for some, it will not work. And if somebody decides to use this as aid, they should educate themselves about it: what type of coffee to use, equipment quality and general protocol how to administer. I wrote a series of very detailed articles about it specifically for that reason. It’s there available for anybody.

Our ancestors used enemas for hundreds of years. There is probably a reason for this.

I appreciate your words of encouragement. It is very sweet of you.

      Cheers!

  14. Hi Ella,
At the age of 50, I was diagnosed with Stage III B Colon Cancer in January 2019 and operated on in February 2019. The docs also wanted to do chemo, but since I had witnessed what my dad went through only 3 years earlier, I decided to try something different. I sought out the Gerson Institute, and for a few months I was under one of their doctor’s care, via internet. But I couldn’t achieve the pace of enemas that was prescribed – 3 coffee, 1 ozone, all daily. Since 15 July, I’ve pretty much completed one coffee enema daily, sometimes two on weekends. I’ve also gone vegan for the most part. I weight 255-plus in Dec 2018, and now I’m down to 187 lbs. I feel great, and all my blood-work looks superb. I don’t know whether it’s the diet change, enemas, or daily long walks – probably a combination of all three – but the results are positively telling. I’m continuing this program at least until April 2020. It would be interesting to review research on coffee enemas, but such research is difficult to find. Most is anecdotal.

    • Hi, Chris!

      Thank you for stopping by!

You are absolutely correct that most research is anecdotal. But, as you know, nobody knows your body better than you do. Therefore, if whatever modality works FOR YOU or FOR ME – it is GOOD ENOUGH! Of course, it is just my opinion. But in my case, it is not only anecdotal. As you read, I had bad results concerning my liver (after chemo and radiation!) and my decision doing coffee enema was very “targeted.” Well, nine months later my readings were normal.
So, is it anecdotal? For me, it is not.

Also, I came from a culture where enema, in general, was popular as a normal beauty and cleansing tool. Therefore, it was easy for me. And seven years later I continue with my coffee enema as maintenance once or twice a week.

You are very brave and intelligent that you consider integrative help. That is a smart thing to do. No question, doctors are extremely important but you are the MAIN DECISION MAKER! So, listen to your body because YOUR BODY IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY!

So, continue your walks, a good diet and don’t forget about the coffee enema. Also, if you are vegan, be sure that your hemoglobin readings are within the appropriate range. For example, vegan or vegetarian didn’t work for me. I did it for a long time but had to bring back the animal protein. Again, everybody is different. And it vegan works for you, it is fantastic!

Well, please keep in touch and let me know how you are doing. I would love to hear from you.
      Thank you, Chris!
